If you're running a TPO or PVC membrane roof, the drains need to bond with the membrane — not just sit under it. That's the whole point of TPO drains with clad flanges: the polyolefin or PVC coating on the flange welds directly to the membrane using a hot-air gun, giving you a monolithic seal with zero reliance on sealant or mechanical fasteners at the waterline. It's the same principle as welding the membrane seams themselves.
Underneath that clad flange, our TPO drains are stainless steel. The coating handles the membrane compatibility; the steel handles the structural load, the clamping pressure, and decades of freeze-thaw without cracking. Plastic-body drains exist and they're cheaper upfront, but they flex under load and the threads strip if you're not careful with the clamping ring. We've seen too many callbacks from that approach.
We stock bottom-outlet, side-outlet, parapet, and retrofit configurations in both TPO and PVC cladding. Overflow options available on most models — worth speccing in areas with heavy rainfall or if the roof is large enough that a single primary drain can't keep up during a downpour. Size your drains to your leader pipes and don't forget the strainer dome to keep debris out of the system.
